Battlestar Galactica...

Man, what a show! (of course, I'm talking about the remake here).

My wife and I love it so much...what an intense piece of TV. In fact, I'd almost got as far as saying cinema, because the creators treat it like it's a motion picture.

Like the second episode "Water" where we open on a gloved hand, dripping with water. The camera backs up a bit, and we see a uniformed woman (Boomer) dripping with water, looking completely confused. Nice stuff.

The stuff with Gais Baltar drives me nuts. He is such a cad. And I'm not sure where they are going with the religious stuff--wow, the good guys are polythesitic but the bad guys are monothesitic? Whew. :-)

New Music Page!

I just set up a music page over at DMusic. Check it out:

Poor F. Murray Abraham...

Too bad he gets put in roles where he's the bad guy, that everyone gets to kick when the movie's over. He's such an amazing actor... It would be mind blowing to see him as a good guy.

Of course, everyone loved him in Amadeus, even though he played the heavy. He was just so dang entertaining!

I just watched Finding Forrester last night. What a great flick!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181536/

So, I figured I'd take Forrester's advice and start writing. I'll just write from the "heart" and see how far that takes me. Mostly I think this will amount to no more than mental masturbation, but what the heck. I need more creative outlets in my life. So, let's give this a shot.

I really loved the premise of the film, how the main character, Jamal, is an amazing author, and a virtuouso basketball player. Here he is, a genius, trapped amongt mundane people. He really does love basketball, but really, it's the only way he can fit in. No one around him truly understands his gifts.

Enter Forrester (played by Sean Connery). An old cranky man, living in obsurity, yet a world-renowned author. He takes Jamal under his wing and mentors him. Slowly, as their relationship develops, he becomes more like a father figure to him.

Jamal is discovered to be brilliant, not by his school work (a C student, doing just enough to get by but avoid being noticed), but by some amazing test scores. He is offered a scholarship to go to a prestigous private school.

Anyway, I don't want to tell you the whole movie. Suffice to say, it's one of those stories where genius is discovered, but a good human story emerges. Great flick.

Dooglio Speaks comes online...

...not that anyone really cares. Except me. I guess I'm doing this for myself. :-)

Hey, you know, this blog is something I will use to spill out my inner thoughts, those I don't share with anyone else. You will probably guess who I am since I use this handle all over the place. A simple web search for Dooglio will turn up my name. But I don't care. Here are my thoughts.

Blah.
